Garden lights, decking and Astro turf laying in Islington
For this landscaping job in Islington, we had to lay a new fake lawn, build a new decking area and flowerbeds, and install garden lights. Not the typical landscaping job, but then again it almost never is.
For the lawn, we poured around 300 kg of silica sand to use as basis after which we installed 28m2 of high-quality Astro turf.
As for the deck, we used treated pine boards, each 28mm thick. The colour of the boards is natural timber with a planed finish, and the entire pack was FSC certified with a 10-year guarantee. The client also wanted LED lights on the decking and flowerbeds.
Day 1: Clearance of the terrain
Preparation of the terrain is always the first step in any landscaping job. On the first day of this project, the landscapers in Islington removed all of the old grass from the ground. Of course, the weeds met their match as well and were carefully collected in bags with the rest of the waste.
Day 2: Preparation work
On the second day, the specialists rotovated the soil with shovels after which they levelled it. No artificial turf can settle on the ground without a base layer of silica sand and that’s what we “sprinkled” the soil with. The garden landscaping team in Islington also started building a base for the deck.
Day 3: Installing anti-weed membrane, building flower beds and wiring
To keep new weeds from growing underneath the deck and the new artificial lawn, we covered the ground with a 60m2 heavy duty anti-weed membrane. Once that was finished, the landscapers got down to building new flower beds and wiring for the garden lights.
Day 4: Finishing the job
The decking was finished on the fourth day and river stone was laid on its sides. The landscapers also installed cool LED lights as a finishing touch. Ten top lights were installed on the deck top and 10 more were added on the sleeper borders of the flower beds. LED lights improve aesthetics, not to mention that they make your deck safe to walk on during the night. The flower beds were filled with soil and the artificial grass was finally laid, too.
Now the owners of this Islington property can have a wonderful garden party.
